Have you ever said to yourself, "I just don't know what to create content about"?
If that's you, this blog post is for you! We’re going to dive into three key principles that will help you generate amazing content ideas that not only serve your audience but also help you grow your business.
1. Identify Your Audience
When deciding what to create content about, it always starts with one simple principle: Who is your audience? It's like getting a birthday gift. Who is the person you’re getting the gift for?
For example, if I wanted to get my wife a birthday gift, I probably wouldn't get her baseball cards. They just wouldn't resonate with her. But if I got her a DVD collection of her favorite TV series, she'd be thrilled! The same principle applies to your audience. What would best delight and serve them?
Consider what would entertain or educate your audience.
If you’re an expert with a product or service that solves a problem, offer free content designed to solve one of their problems. It could be a limiting belief, a tangible problem, or a strategy they can use to add value to their business.
2. Address Their Problems
Once you know who your audience is, the next step is to understand their problems. What are they struggling with? What keeps them up at night? Addressing these issues builds a strong connection with your audience because it shows you understand them.
For instance, if your content is for restaurants, and one of their struggles is finding good staff, you could create content like "My Process for Finding Great Servers" or "Secrets to Recruitment." If your audience is surfers, identify their specific problems. Beginners might fear sharks or not know the best times to surf. Provide basic information to help them take their first steps. For advanced surfers, offer content on more advanced techniques.
3. Provide Solutions
Now that you’ve identified your audience and their problems, the next step is to discuss solutions. Offering actionable solutions will establish you as a trusted expert. You can discuss what you personally offer or give them information to solve their problems on their own.
For example, if you're an expert in cold email, you could discuss where to buy domains, inbox management, or offer DIY options.
Demonstrating your expertise builds trust and rapport with your audience. Over time, as you continue to provide value and speak to their problems, they will come to know, like, and trust you. This is essential for building a successful brand and business.
Remember, you don’t need to pitch your services in every video.
Show up, provide value, and genuinely care for your audience. This approach will help you build long-term relationships and grow your business. I hope these tips help you come up with great content ideas and serve your audience better. See you in the next post!
